Only a few years ago I felt extremely sceptical about all this so called alternative methods. I tried it out of sheer desperation after my fourth IVF attempt failed badly. At that stage I felt that if I ever fall pregnant, it would have to be through a miracle from God.

My hopes for conceiving were fading and my colleague Gynaecologists could only raise their hands and compassionately say that I probably left it for too late. That my chances to be a biological mom are close to zero and maybe I should think about adoption or surrogacy. Their suggestions scared me, as I was not really ready for these options.

I was getting more and more depressed over the whole situation I found myself in and even considered changing my job. I was really feeling the strain of looking after all these pregnant women: women who were going to have a baby while I was going to have none.

My jealousy towards these pregnant women and women in childbirth was turning into a kind of self-torture that was tearing my heart out.

My husband (also a doctor) saw my torments and wished to help. He suggested that we should go on a long holiday instead of getting stressed out and running from one doctor’s appointment to another without any result.

I agreed because I thought I really need a break from all my baby turmoils.

We went to Europe, The Americas and finally to Asia. We arrived at Seoul International Airport (South Korea) and caught a taxi to the city. The trip from the airport was about an hour or so before we got to the hotel we were staying at.

It was May and you could see all trees and plants were blooming as we drove along. “How wonderful” – I thought, “Nature is blooming and preparing to give its fruits – but why can’t I bloom and give fruit like everything else in spring”.

I didn’t realize at the time that this moment was to be the beginning of my “blooming”.

The next day my husband and I was wandering along one of the busy streets of Seoul looking around like tourists do, as we past this little shop near Dongdaemun station.  By chance my attention was caught by a sign in a window, I stopped to look. The sign showed a woman’s internal organs in the shape of a foot and a hand.

You could see all organs there including reproductive organs as well. “Interesting", - I was fascinated. I began to read the writing that luckily was in English and Korean.

I understood that it was a women’s health shop and I decided to go in. My husband just shook his head and went to the next shop that was a men’s clothes store.

I went into the Shop.

The reception area looked very tranquil and I felt relaxed sitting there in a nice soft chair kindly offered to me by a Korean lady – receptionist. There was sounds of nature music playing in the background and I heard the sounds of running water, singing birds and swaying leaves.

After about 10 minutes I was attended to by a middle age male – practitioner who could speak English extremely well.

He asked me who I am and why I came to his clinic. I felt I had nothing to lose so I told him all my sad infertility story. I thought he would have nothing to offer me except to maybe sell me some Korean vitamins or herbs. But to my surprise after listening to me carefully he said: “ I believe the therapies I practice will help you to become a mother despite all failures you’ve had”.

I was struggling to believe and continued to ask compromising questions but he quietly respond to all my questions leaving me with no choice but to trust him.

He said: “Look the treatment is not just a simple remedy you swallow, it is not a silver bullet. It is a whole system you need to know and follow in order to conceive naturally and bear a healthy child. You must believe because disbelieving will cause you to not follow the system properly and it is only this that can stop you from your success.”

A year earlier and I would have just laughed.  

To be honest with you, if this had been a year earlier, I would left the shop laughing and thinking this was a huge snow job, but I was grasping at straws now and was willing to try anything.

Plus I was intrigued, was this really possible? I wanted to know the system from A to Z so I could religiously follow it. I felt the spike of HOPE in my heart again. I was delighted.

I visited Dr Kim 3 more times during our first stay in Seoul. He taught me the system of how to become pregnant using the ancient methods of Ayrveda and Su-Jok therapy.

Su-Jok is a therapy discovered by Korean Professor Park, Jae Woo, and it is based on ancient treatment traditions. Prof. Park, Jae Woo developed a new simple system of therapy using only the hands and feet .

He found a complete correspondence system representing the whole body, on the hands and the feet. In Korean, Su means “Hand,” and Jok means “Feet.” The therapy is very practical, effective, simple, harmless covering a wide spectrum.

You can carry out Su-Jok medical procedures while watching TV, while walking or talking with friends.

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian treatment which is considered to be around a 5000 year old system for healing.

According to Dr Kim in order to overcome infertility it is better to combine the two systems because they both stimulate the body’s ability to reproduce in a few different ways. It was much better to attack the problem with all the ammunition we had.

I felt absolutely inspired with what I was learning from him. I don’t know what it was but I felt absolutely certain that I would succeed this time although my husband was cautious and even warned me not to get overexcited.

When we came back home I continued following the system and learning more about it. I loved it.

Four months passed when I noticed that both my breast got very tight and sore. “Must be hormonal changes “ – I thought “Turning 42 soon..” Then I looked at my calendar and noticed that my period should have started 7 days ago. “ Must be a delay again” – I thought.

In a week time my period still was absent and my breast was so tender that I had to put more padding in my bra to support them.

Yes, inside my heart I had a feeling that it could be a pregnancy. But I delayed to check it because I knew that if the tests are negative it will cause so much disappointment that I would not be able to cope again.

Another 3 weeks passed and I finally got the courage to do a urine home pregnancy test while my husband was away for a 3 day conference, I thought if it was negative I would not say anything to him.

I went to the bathroom and said a few prayers before I started (although I always call myself a non-religious person). I got a urine sample and with shaking hands put an indicator in the sample. A minute of waiting felt like an hour so I closed my eyes for a moment while waiting. When I open my eyes I saw two bright red lines on the indicator and I felt my heart was pounding and my head was spinning from the joy I had within.

“I am pregnant !!!” – these where the only words spanning around my mind and I wanted to pinch myself to make sure that I am not dreaming. I tested again just to make sure.

“I need to call John” – I thought. “ Or leave the news as a surprise for the time he comes back from the meeting?”
But I decided to share the news with John now. I was very emotional and felt that I needed someone close to be with me at this particular time.

I rang John. After hearing the news John paused a moment, then he said that he is coming back tonight without attending the rest of the seminar. He caught the a late plane and came home at half past ten that night.

It is really the happiest time of my life.

I was watching TV with my cat on my lap when John came in. I looked up at John and saw his happy and radiant face. “ Congratulation my darling” he exclaimed approaching me. “ It is really the happiest time of my life now. We made it... And I can’t wish of anything else in my life.”

My first pregnancy started well. I had a bit of problem with blood pressure and puffy hands and feet later during the pregnancy, but it was manageable and I can’t really complain.

It is worth mentioning the reaction of my work colleagues to my pregnancy – they were more than just surprised. When I said to them how I did it ( using Ayurveda and Su-Jok methods) , some of them refused to believe me until my belly grew to the point they could not deny.

Some of them still don’t believe me that I got pregnant because of these methods I found. They just say that I probably got pregnant because I was much more relaxed after a long overseas holiday. But they can think whatever they want . I know the truth.

After delivering my first baby boy I decided to stay with my baby until he is at least 3 years of age and took long maternity leave.

I breastfed my little Benny (my first baby) until 12 months old . When I stopped breastfeeding I expected my period to start again but it didn’t. I found that I was pregnant again. “It looks like you are turning into a perpetually pregnant woman.” – my husband joked. “ It looks that way” – I answered.

I gave birth for my second baby when I just turned 43. All my colleagues just told me that I am an unique case in medicine and they would not comment further on it.

Although many doctors did believe me and understood everything that happened to me – they are not allowed to practice these things at the hospital, because these are just to far outside of the conventional Western approach.

Doctors also understand that the conventional approach like giving women infertility drugs can cause ovarian cancer. But unfortunately, conventional medicine is controlled by rich pharmaceutical companies which dictate everything: including medical text books, medical practice and medical science.

So for the fear of losing their jobs they just keep quiet and continue to do what the pharmaceutical companies tell them to do. I can understand that because I was just like them once and would not have believed it myself.

There are Risks of Getting Ovarian Cancer from Infertility drugs.

I also found a study which showed a higher rate of ovarian cancer among women who took infertility drugs (The New England Journal of Medicine Volume 332:1300-1302 May 11, 1995 Number 19).

The finding validates concerns regarding these drugs that surface periodically in medical journals. The study had obviously generated strong criticism from the infertility industry, now a $1 billion-a-year profit-making enterprise.

According to the study, 3,837 women who underwent infertility treatment between 1974 and 1985 in Seattle, were analyzed by Mary Anne Rossing, D.V.M., Ph.D., at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Among all women who had taken the drug Clomid (a drug which induces ovulation there were three times more cases of ovarian cancer diagnosed within the study period compared to women who had not taken drugs during 12 or more monthly cycles.

There are other ways to become pregnant than using infertility drugs, these should be a last option only.

I wrote this book because I want to show women the other way to get pregnant. I truly believe in this way, so do many of my colleagues.
